Well first of all that's not my furrie avatar. That's just a picture I like from an old PS1 game. Secondly, even so most furry characters don't look like their creaters. If you cos-played as Vash or Spike or someone from anime would you say you look like them? you act like them on a daily basis? Furrie is a step beyond simple cos-play, because it's about creating an original character and showing it off. Sometimes with RP, pictures, or even fursuits. Though the fursuits are kind of uncommon since they are expensive.

The entire legal aspect of this article is such a crock of shit. Sounds like some loser legal types are up for election and have to dream up some bullshit case. The simple approach would be to ask the kid is he enjoyed it and whether it bothered him or not. The kid can get a drivers license or buy a gun yet he can't be old enough to decide what he fucks? I know this comment comes too late to give any hope of giving solution to problem, but... The only reason this article got any attention AT ALL, least of which Daily Rotten, was because it has to do with furries. No fur, and it wouldn't have even warranted a byline. I went to a Furriecon twice in my life. 95% fun and games, art work, parades, video games, contests, picture taking, swimming, food, friends etc. 5% was sexual which was always in one of the rooms behind a closed door. so yeah MTV sucks, and always have.
