"University of Colorado police have posted 150 photos of people attending an annual gathering last week where hundreds smoked marijuana. Police are offering $50 rewards for information about the people, many of whom are shown with hand-rolled cigarettes, glass pipes or bongs."

Oh, it's UNIVERSITY of Colorado cops. College cops are usually the biggest douchebags in the police douchebag pantheon. I don't know about other states, but the police at NJ's state universities are equal in power to State Troopers. One of them pulled a gun on my then-girlfriend for the admittedly stupid move of smoking a joint on campus late at night (around 1:00 A.M.). Luckily, the cop's sister was a local dope whore, so most of the guys (and more than a few of the girls) he arrested had banged the shit out of his big sister, and he knew it.

I'll agree, and add that college cops in new mexico are also huge douchebags with napoleon complexes. Probably stems from the fact that they have small dicks. And let's also not forget their complete inability to actually solve any real crimes. Everyone knows that if your room gets broken into, or your car gets broke into or stolen, the police aren't going to do shit because they're too busy arresting casual pot smokers.

Ugh... The Campus Cops in Buffalo, NY make me never want to set foot in that shithole again. I was told I had to leave campus for riding a BMX bike on campus - on my way to class. Sorry it has pegs, I wasn't using them, it was a method of transport. Still, they detained me until I agreed to take it home and be 45 minutes late for class. Then there's the Campus Piglet who punched me in the face when I asked for directions after getting really, really lost. I was a little drunk, but I was over 21 and just wanted to find my way home. He punched me "for asking a stupid question." Or there's the time SUNY Oswego campus cops who questioned me for wearing red shoes, even though the suspect they wanted was described as about 5'5 and i'm about 6'1. Fuck campus cops.

Campus cops, I thought the only thing they ever do is write parking tickets...until I found the U of Toronto campus cops site and discovered that they also conduct bicycle spot checks. I wish I were lying.  They also do the usual parade stuff and conduct rigorous training exercises. Some pot smokers use "420" as a code to speak about marijuana openly among unsuspecting teachers and parents. ***** If the teachers and parents haven't heard of 420, they might be too stupid to be teachers or parents. In my town there is an annual "Hemp Fest," but the cops for the most part look the other way as long as the people attending don't go too nuts. This year the "pumpkin rolls" sold out fifteen minutes after the Fest started.

Between police-in-the-family and other Family friends, the best job I could find paid about $9/hr, I lived in a ghetto, in addition to the fact I'd already been falsely accused of a crime I didn't commit, and losing friends in 9/11, and knowing Tim McVeigh's childhood babysitter, and an acid trip around the Buffalo Zoo that's left me with a profound appreciation for the reindeer, and realizing how useless my life had become I realized it was best if I moved west. Yeah, I was living from a backpack out of one night motel rooms and hostels for a few weeks. Yeah, I slept on the beach before, yeah, I was homeless. Whatever, it was to better myself, and it worked amazingly. I didn't become a dumbass smoking tweak at 5 am, I became a dumbass who creates solutions, builds his own ideas, and fixes problems. I'll never look back, it's amazing out here. I've grown in ways as a human I never could have hoped to, I'm a happy, well-adjusted, recent 26 year old with a great job. As long as you don't become a beach bum tweaker, live in El Cajon **, or want to get married to a sane woman, San Diego is awesome. Ummm, I'm not trying to Alex The Thread (*) amigos, just stating my love for the American Dream, and the ability to make yourself from nothing. They don't have a case. It's not illegal to sit and smoke. It has to be reasonably proven that it was weed being smoked, and last I heard, a photo can't prove that. I'd hope any law student could destroy the case in a non-kangaroo court.

OK, A little side rant inspired by this story. We all know this stoner, the one who is very crafty and makes bongs, pipes, steam rollers, masks and all kinds of stuff to get high with. These thoughts go out to him/her. One dude I knew made all kinds of bongs, but what the hell do you need with 20 or more of them? But when they make this stuff they love to burn at least a half to break it in, so that is cool. To: Venatious I agree that the old argument of the cops wasting their time on petty crimes doesn't work. A crime is a crime. Shoplifting hardly stands up to murder but the cops will prosecute both. What I see as the problem here is that our goverment seems to be wasting time and resources to bust all the pot smokers (and drug users in general) while we have much more serious issues at had. 75% of the people in prison are there for drug related offenses (at least that was the stat when I was studying CRJ 4 years ago). The three strike rule means that there are people in there for life that have been caught with a little bit of crack or heroin. In the mean time we have rapists getting a mere 2 years for beating a woman so badly that her family didn't recognize her. There are child molesters that recieve smaller jail sentences than drug users. Drug use is a crime that has no victim. The users are usually a productive part of society since they need money to buy more drugs. It just doesn't seem to make sense that police departments with little funding and resources are wasting their time on busting drug users that are going to be sent to jails with little funding and resources. And don't even get me started about how a little stint in prison will take a petty offender and turn them into an actuall criminal. You take a pothead or any other drug user and put them in jail for a while and what will emerge is a violent offender. It just seems silly that our government can waste so much on something that has been proven time and time again to be wrong. They have turned a blind eye to the truth and have created policies based on myths and conjecture. They simply throw money at any program that claims to help the war on drugs despite any proof that the program in question actually works. So, thats my two cents.

I keep waiting for some cop to come fuck with us. Back when my wife used to smoke RYO, she tried to buy some papers at a Shell station near our house and some sanctimonious bitch clerk had the nerve to tell her "We don't support that kind of behavior here." Fuck her and her 500 packs of cigarettes on her back wall.
