Mom vs. MySpace
Duluth News-Tribune | Submitted by: Buddy List
"I've covered murders, grisly accidents, airplanes falling out of the sky and, occasionally, dirty politics. But in nearly two decades of journalism, nothing has made my insides churn like seeing what my 13-year-old daughter and her friends are up to on MySpace.com."

It's gotta be tough to feign shock over your teenage daughter's horniness this far past the Victorian era, but nice work, Mom!

"It was this coarseness and an abject lack of manners (not to mention extremely poor grammar) that bothered me the most" ***** Yeah, coarse language, lack of manners, and poor grammar are MUCH worse than those silly "murders, grisly accidents, and airplanes falling out of the sky.'

Why are people picking on a Mom for taking an interest in her daughters well being? If the girl had been a myspace murder (which is actually a recognizable phrase now, ALARMS) Then you same assholes would be pointing the finger at her for not watching out for her child. You stupid fucks.

"The internet is really really great........For Porn. Just grab you dick and double click for porn porn porn." Geez mom, and I suppose you think your daughter is still a virgin eh? I'd love to see the shock on her face when she finds out her daughter probably done the girls basketball team cause face it, it's the in thing. Ask anyone in GLAAD and don't you forget it. By the way, thats her on the new Girls Gone Wild first timers DVD.

Why's the girl responsible for what her friends write on their bulletins? I've got friends who post pictures from this very site and their decision has nothing to do with me.

If mom is so appalled at her daughter's MySpace activities, I wonder how she would feel about what gets said and done in real life. Honestly, most of what gets said by teenagers online and in real life is bullshit. Compared to my friends and me when we were teens, the kids today are pure and virtuous as new born kittens.

Well, from one girls locker: a 15 inch dildo, anal lube, a strap-on dildo with weird bumps, a battery operated vibrator shaped like a bullet, that KY warming lube, various porn magazines, and a porn video. What they talk about, well there are somethings I will never say. Just too strange...

Why do people have to either half ass it or go overboard when it comes to parenting? I mean, half assing it is of course simple and probably more fun, but the full bore insanity of people like this woman are impressive also. I bet this mom will just be shocked when her daughter gets pregnant her junior year.

As a tip, you Brits really need to learn to throw a good party and send a message. I guess over some Tea some guys in Boston really taught them what was up 230 or so years ago. Aspects of the US' social services (like, the lack of healthcare for the working) is pretty scary, but as some great American once said, "At least we're not England anymore."

Woman has way too much time on her hands. She needs something to keep her occupied. All those "contracts"? I would love to see her pre-nuptial. Here's the real reason for Mommy Dearest's antics: "It was more the shock of discovering a different Taylor, a cool-teen version of the girl who used to cuddle up on the couch and watch cooking shows with me. My daughter was too young for such an uncensored world, I decided." Poor soul does not realize that there's no turning back of the clock to relieve her sense of loss and of control.

This story makes me pissed I wasn't born ten years later. As the Violent Femmes once sang, "I was born too soon, you were born too late..." It's a song involving drugs or fucking an underage girl. I forget which, but it covers their whole catalog.

Lest we not forget the likes of me who enjoy using myspace to terrorize their friends from school with malicious and obscene digital edits of their posted pictures. Such as the example bellow. myspace is a great source of pictures that are just asking to be vandalized

Myspace addiction has cost me my finacee (she got so emo, and left to cause more pain on herself, stupid bitch), as well as many important friendships I've had. Myspace is a pretty horrible place, and I'm not a big fan at all. That being said, said woman is a self righteous bitch. If she wants to know who's responsible for the fact her beloved Taylor is a whore, she should look at the compact in her purse. Thats my two cents anyway. `Boston`

That mother is so fucking dumb and does not know how the mind of a child works. OMG THEY HAVE INTEREST IN SEX, "NASTY" THINGS AND THEY SWEAR TOO, I NEVER KNEW THAT! "n late February, about two months after we made our pact, I logged onto Taylor's account. As I scrolled down, some new photographs caught my eye. I froze. Taylor had posted shots of herself and two other girls giving a one-fingered salute. I couldn't believe that she would post the photos knowing that I was looking over her shoulder. What was she thinking?" Seriously, people like this should just stop having fucking kids.

Seriously, if my kids don't rebel to find their place in the world, I won't be able to look them in the eye. If these parents want babies who stay babies forver, either buy a doll or have a stillborn baby, one you can dress up and have pseudo-birthdays for, then post pictures of the dead babies in disturbing outfits on the internet. (See, parents? Kids aren't responsible for all the sickening shit on the Web.) This mother should stop being a tattle-tale and grow up.

kyotay2001 is right. Moms not calling for the closing or boycotting of the site, she's telling parents about it. She is doing what a parent of a 12-13 year old is supposed to do. She's setting boundaries and enforcing them.

I'm with kyotay2001 and aulduron. What the hell are you people whining about? This woman is actually BEING A PARENT. She gives a shit what happens to her kid and is fair enough to actually look into what's going on. A restrictive parent would just give a flat out "NO!" and a stupid one would be sobbing about how she "didn't know" MySpace could be such a cesspool as Taylor gets zipped in a body bag after becoming MySpace Pedophile leftovers. Uber-restrictiveness and Uber-cluelessness is both lazy parenting. On top of that, not only is she trying to keep her safe, but she's trying to make sure her sprog isn't becoming another socially stupid little net troll. I dunno about you, but the less mouthbreathing little fucktards there are that I have to deal with, the happier I'll be. Come on people, asking your 13 year old to show some manners and not pimp herself or her friends out on a webpage isn't that much to ask.

If your kids aren't doing drugs, dating members of different races, having unprotected sex, getting arrested, or getting failing grades, what's the big fucking deal? Assuming they are fed, clothed, groomed, and offered guidance. After that, that's really all a parent needs to do. Kids have that peculiar habit of doing whatever the fuck they want. I was a rich kid, with a structured life, and got straight A's in Junior High. Then I started smoking pot. Then I started drinking. Then I started selling pot. Then I started snorting OxyContin. Then I got arrested for armed robbery, for beating a kid severely and taking his wallet (he stole from me). Then I got out after 2 months because I plead it down to 2nd Degree Robbery. Then I discovered cocaine, and had sex with several chicks, unprotected of course. Now I'm straight, clean, abstinent, and sober. I also quit smoking, and am a member of the National Socialist Party (www.nsm88.com). A little story for your pleasure. The problem is, I reiterate, is that you can only offer the right way, and hope they choose the path. They seldom do. P.S. Myspace is fucking stupid, and a poor excuse for social skills development. Get out and meet real people.

I will agree that this woman is trying to be a mother and her child is being a rebel---nothing new there. However, about myspace and the internet, it's called welcome to the 21st century. I am tired of a bunch of people who want to blame myspace over shit...in the end it all boils down to PERSONAL ACTIONS. And if it wasn't myspace, it would be another page just like it.

Bottom line: this is the kind of shit writing you get when you hire an average person to crank out a newspaper column once a week. Ideas are hard to come by, and columnists will stoop to going on and on about any irrelevancy just to fill their word count out. It's like Andy Rooney-itis. "Could there be more goose poop in my front yard?" "Soup is the wettest of all foods!" "I hate refrigerators with the freezer on the bottom!" Hard-hitting journalism for the human interest section. I wonder why newspaper subscription numbers keep going down every year?

I don't understand. Consider these two facts: [1] The stories of people who got molested by predators, had unwanted babies, took too many drugs, got STDs etc. are gruesome and disturbing stories. [2] Children love to hear gruesome and disturbing stories. Now, if adults would only tell these stories, there would be no problem. But no, they want to shelter their 'innocents'.

Actually she's teaching her daughter that if mommy says it's OK she can break any rules she wants! The site says no one under 14 and it means just that and I wouldn't let my kid have one till they were 14 either it has nothing to do with what I think they may or may not be doing.
