Vic, I don't know the proper way to make brisket. This is the poor mans way that I learned in Texas. Get a fatty, cheap piece of meat. Try to find ones on the discount section that are a day away from being tossed in the dumpster. Aged beef is the key. Let it soak in a pan of Coke overnight n the fridge, or on the counter if it is too fresh. This will eat some of the fat and break the meat down even more. Use a hibachi or small charcoal grill. Salt the meat or season it how you like and wrap it in foil. Slow cook it for 3 hours or so. Depending on how you like it or when you run out of beer. Everytime you open it to check on it, add more Coke. And drink another beer. When you think it is done, slice away, add bbq sauce and chow down. Poor man's brisket. If you drink a lot of beer while cooking and the sun has gone down. Prepare yourself for either a very rare brisket or burnt to crap on one side because you forgot about it while you were hitting on somebody.

OL, I think that I would like to fly you down to Phoenix about a week before Christmas. You could get out of the cold for a week. All I ask is that I lock you in my house for a week with a shit load of cleaning supplies. The relatives are coming to my house this year and I really hate to clean. i agree with DM. not a big fan of black licorice at all. during the holidays as kids, we had to make our rounds to families houses. when it came to the old people, they thought it was the greatest treat to feed us those black licorice cigars and pipes. they are all nice and black on the outside, and hav ethose little red beady-like candies on the end. but when you bite into them, expecting them to taste good, they are nasty and bitter as hell. not only that, they somehow look brownish-blackish-green on the inside and it always made me think i was being fed cat shit. but we had to eat the whole thing because we were given it, and it was impolite to say you didn't want it after you were chewing on it, because no one else was gonna eat your scraps.
