We thought it was wussy back when we were kids. I guess we were hard core, huh? I see the clouds that move across the sky I see the wind that moves the clouds away It moves the clouds over by the building I pick the building that I want to live in I smell the pine trees and the peaches in the woods I see the pinecones that fall by the highway That's the highway that goes to the building I pick the building that I want to live in It's over there, it's over there

From: ohhellno [steve-vo] Date: 20-Nov-2007 15:37 So what they're saying is todays kids are a bunch of pussies. I wouldn't call todays kids pussies. That is not fair to people that are pussies. We need to create a word that fits how pathetically weak and cowardly kids today are and they are light years past being pussies.

They think kids of today should be told that Bert and Ernie are gay lovers who cornhole each other at night. Sesame Street is a classic kids show, why do people have to find fault with it?

This show was never the same after Jim Henson died. If Jim was still around, Elmo would NEVER have taken over the way he did. The only original Muppet performer left is Carrol Spinney who plays both Oscar and Big Bird and I don't think he is the best of health. Can you imagine Sesame Street doing another show where they actually address the death of a cast member (Mr Hooper aka Will Lee, RIP)? Oh no, can't tell kids about death since that might destroy their self esteem. Gotta have Elmo running around screaming like he has diarrhea and no dime, that is how to teach the little ones today.

This annoys me. I grew up on Sesame Street and Mr. Roger's. They are good, wholesome learning shows that teach you how to read, count, and deal with your feelings and I'll beat the fucking living mother-fucking shit out of any ass-fucker cock-breath that says they're not.

my grandma used to watch seseme street cause she said she loved the adult humor. She also liked porn and rated r movies and appreciated subtle dick jokes in a kids program. I never understood her till i was 20 or so and i watched seseme street. You need to have a dirty mind but it can be sleazy but so is everything else. kids suck these days and are too coddled. heres a great link ot a reedited bert and ernie show of them doing "casino", its good. http://youtube.com/watch?v=z93Kvl3YMWQ

We didn't watch "Sesame Street" as kids. My schoolteacher mom didn't allow it. We watched "The Little Rascals" and "The Three Stooges" instead. Apparently, she thought those shows to be more beneficial to our little brains.

Sesame Street is too adult for kids now? O.K. I think it's now safe to declare the next generation of kids pansies. I feel sorry for the little crotch dropplings because they are going to be a bunch of comfortably numb victims standing around with their thumb in their ass waiting for the world to rip them to shreds.

I have a personal connection with Sesame Street from the very beginning. I saw the first broadcast episode in 1969.. and many, many more as my two youngest sisters grew up. Watching sesame street reruns at 0600 Saturdays "watching" my siblings (while my parents slept in)holds a special place in my most dreadful teenage memories. Later.. it was with my own children ..pretty much a major household presence from 1982 till about 1997..I think it was great for the kids..My favorite was Cookie Monster..ONLY when HE was "Allister Cookie" with his pipe...nothing like it since...what a shame PC killed him. I also must mention the little space aliens...Yep Yep yep yep..Yep yep..Oh OH OH..Yep yep yep yep..

I remember the "special guest stars", I wasn't allowed to stay up past 7pm until I was 14 years old. So Charlies Angels and all those 70's TV shows were off limits. I heard Farah Fawcett would be on Sesame street and I played sick just to be able to stay home and watch it. Ah them were the days. I didn't really see the big deal about the "angel"

I always liked Dark Shadows and would run home from school to watch it. Shit - got the whole series on DVD now but it's not the same. Also, Barney Bean and his sidekick Sherwood, the City Slicker. Barney would take a birthday kid's initials and make a cool funny face picture outta them. Also, he did the weather on channel 33, but without the oddball hat and paste-on mustache. It was a kinder, simpler era when child molesting was just something the kids didn't talk about, except to each other. Nowadays you go to Walmart and some kid sees a Tickle-Me-Elmo and bursts out crying "Daddy NO! Daddy NO!" and they come and arrest daddy at work the next day.

I remember watching the old warner brother's Bugs Bunny cartoons in the 80's. In one particular episode Bugs was marooned on an island and a black tribesman was trying to eat Bugs. This tribe guy was: charcoal black, huge cherry red lips, afro, loin cloth, spear, huge white teeth.....and spoke to Bugs in a "ooooggga booga booooga." OMG could you imagine all the people who would bitch if that particular episode aired on tv again? hahahaha

The old Loonie Tunes and Merrie Melodies were hysterical when I was a kid, and they're hysterical now that I'm 33. The only thing today that can come close is Oggy and the Cockroaches. Muggy days, Tokin up A-OK. I'm on my way, To where the drugs are free... Can you tell me where to get, Where to get some LSD? Children's programming takes a special kind of talent. All of the greats were higher than kites on something or another. I'm going to show my kids the world. They need to be ready for it when it swings a sledgehammer in their faces. Bell jars never protected or prepared anyone for anything.

It's not that today's kids are wusses, it's that their parents are. When you think Sesame Street is too "street," you've been living in the 'burbs too long, princess. I started watching Sesame Street at 11 (when I came to the US). I was older than the planned target audience, but I liked it. I liked the mix of puppets and people, the casual acceptance of the fact that everything's fucking bizarre, and it never seemed like it was talking down to the audience, the way that the current incarnation does. I want to smack Elmo in his baby-talking bitch mouth. Incidentally, Insinerate, liberals are the ones who started Sesame Street- look at the original cast, and the original skits. Bunch of hippie-dippie stoners with their trippy artwork. That ethos is now under attack by these "won't somebody PLEASE think of the CHILDREN!" wingnuts, who seem to come equally from the left and right.
