The videos posted on YouTube even provide viewers with a how-to." The best is the note to parents: "Due to the potential danger, I have made it clear to our students that possession of Smarties (or similar candy) will result in a Class II offense." 2nd video is some emo kid interview. He has a one-word sentence vocabulary.

So, I smoke. Perhaps I should sue my school for not outlawing 'Pixie sticks' 45 years ago. Such jackassery. You should probably outlaw ink pens too because it will just make kids want to have a tattoo. The only thing schools teach is 'white people are evil', 'racism is the worst crime seconded only by smoking'. 'four times five is really hard use a calculator'.

Control freaks. As with everything else (such as making a "gun" out of a pointed finger) the True Believers are literal "iconoclasts" pursuing with fervor the Symbols of what they fear and hate. It also makes it obvious (again) that formal studies never guarantee educated processes of reason. If it were not for the separation of Church and State plus the Bill of Rights, our homegrown zealots (secular or religious) would not behave any differently from "Theirs" (take your pick of any of the "Others", makes no diff).

When I was a kid we would snort pixie stick powder. That was fun, but not as fun as the real thing (although the post nasal drip did taste good when it was all flavorey.)

Big whoop. We used to snort Pixe Sticks and Smarties. Burned like hell but the drip was way better than the after taste of coke.

I used to get the candy cigarettes– they were candy not tobacco and I knew it. Funny thing I hated being around real cigarettes. Never even tried smoking. Can't stand being around smoke. Since the warnings on the packs, anyone who starts, deserves what they get.

Smoking Smarties gives children the appearance of a smoker's exhale. __________ this just in, kids do stupid shit for no reason other than they can. always has been that way, and always will be. when i was younger it was those stupid flint balls you cracked together to make sparks. after a some kids knocked out a few teeth or gave themselves a goose-egg or a black and bluesie, parents took em away. my pop told me stories of when he was younger of cherry-bombs and lady fingers. i feel bad for the kids of today, they are limited to "smoking" smarties. how much must it suck for the dumb thing of a generation to be aping something you can do on any cold day?

Remember the gum candy cigs with the white powder you blew out. Those were the days. Didn't need to fake it with smarties. Add those to the list of harmless banned toys like squirt guns. Now the kids get the good stuff like lead tainted ching chong china toys made for kids by kids.

inhaling the crystaline hydrocarbon now. what do parents/teachers/etc expect after feeding sugar cereal to the brats from the day they can hold a spoon? check it out @ the supermarket. LOOK at the ingredients of the popular b'fast food. "wheat, rice, sugar, salt, BHT in the packaging to maintain freshness" bla bla bla. gotta admire the innovativeness of kids to fight boredom.

Why are kids so frickin' stupid nowadays? And why do school officials feel the need to be so stupid about these things? If kids thought this up when I was in school, my thoughts would have been, "hey that's kinda cool," and then moved on to other things.

The candy cigarettes are still out there, but they have been changed to "candy stiks." My daughter had some in her trick or treat bag last Halloween. They are the same except they don't have the orange colored "lit flame" on the end.
