What is the point of buying a house in a neighborhood that has a HOA? With all the rules they impose you might as well rent since it seems there are less rules. "Oh your mailbox is painted the wrong color, it's supposed to be sandy beach beige NOT bay city beige". Damn Nazis! I was a bit confused by this article too, glad I'm not the only one. Then again I am easily confused.

I like our HOA. It keeps people for storing shitty-looking or inoperative vehicles on the streets (if your car doesn't run, it belongs in your garage or in the shop, and your crap belongs in your basement and not your garage). It keeps the low-rents nearby from storing trash on their patio (they were for a while), it keeps beaners from painting their front doors in the usual beaner day-glo colors. The HOA takes care of landscaping, road and sidewalk maintenance, and the pool and tennis courts. They even towed without warning a rusted-out van that the patio-trash lowrents were using as a self-store shed out on one of the streets. At $145 a month in HOA dues, which also includes water, I'd say all that is pretty cheap. People who want to live like pigs should stay in subsidized apartment housing. It's expected there. People who want to live in middle-class white neighborhoods can either act white, or get the fuck out; that's the beauty of an HOA.

Oh my GOD this is so incredibly rotten, I just can't believe it. More incredible than a baby flying a few feet, being made to cry. The depths of depravity that some people go to... for no reason at all. It's just astounding. This must be the absolute WORST thing I have ever read on this site, hands down. This must be the most horrible crime that anybody could conceive of, ever. I'm going to curl up and cry myself to sleep now.
