gingerbrown, Actually, one of the earliest recorded circumstances of mixing politics and religion involved nailing someone to a cross. Which should have been a BIG warning to practice neither. But people are stupid and cowardly and not worth shit. Well, not worth shit anymore. Only guy who found a good use for the religious was Nero when he used the new Christians as human torches for lighting his parties. Too bad he didn't get them all. We truly need to start taxing the shit out of all religious organizations, and in fact back-taxing to their inception dates (just when their churches first put up the woodwork frames). Jeez. He's not forcing anyone to do anything. He doesn't know who voted for who. He's saying, "if you voted for him, you should absolve yourself". It's not church policy, or something. Had he said it before the election, that would be another thing. Ironically, Catholics have voted heavily Democrat ever since the Democratic party was founded. Hell, Biden, Kerry, and Pelosi are both Catholic. It's only been since Roe V Wade that they've occasionally shied away. The Catholic vote went to Obama, Bush, Gore, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan. During the last election, the Pope himself came out and told American voters it's ok to vote for Kerry, despite his pro-abortion platform.
