Twitchy Corpse Provides Bar Humor For Cop
CNN Anderson 360 | Submitted by: Avery
"In gruesome detail that gathers laughs from several other bar patrons, Cousins describes how, as a patrol officer, he responded to a homicide on March 28th. He explains how he arrived at the scene to find a man shot in the head and says the dead man’s leg was twitching. Cousins says he used his cell phone camera to take a picture of the dead man’s body. He also jokes when the victim’s mother identifies her son."

This happens all the time. What doesn't happen is that the cop is
not stupid enough to let himself be taped. Dumbass.
My uncle used to show me crime scene pics. Yeah, rotten runs in
the family.

Cut the man a fucking break! Yes, he shouldn't have said any of that in public, but I'm more irked at the jackass who decided to upload his meltdown on Youtube. The man needs to talk to a professional, now, not be subjected to more stress.

Well first things first: there is no such thing as post - mortem twitching. These are usually tall tales from the imaginative, drunk or liars.

Secondly, this is not uncommon. People who have to deal with death/violence daily need to let it out! We have the best senses of humor in the death care industry! We don't go out of our way to disrespect, but we need to cope. It all really depends to determine whether or not the person is a true asshole.

Anybody who's ever read a Joseph Wambaugh book or seen one of his cop movies, or knows a cop, or is related to a cop knows some cops thrive on this stuff. It's either their way of dealing with it, or they just plain like it.

Hell, they're probably posters on Rotten.

Not worth the bunching of the panties. Besides, some of that stuff is fuckin' hilarious.

I have cop friends who have told me all kinds of stories like this over the years. I have friends in the health care business who have told me all kinds of stories (treating the bass player from Poison for genital warts, removing a light buld from some guys ass in the emergency room, stuff like that). This is nothing new, just a bunch of drama queens putting on an "I'm offended" act.

Cousins buddy: "It was just a night out with friends that someone blew out of context causing a lot of trouble for someone who puts their lives on the line for us every day.”

Sorry, but I have never seen a cop, in real life or on TV, risk his life for anybody. Mostly, you see them in real life giving you a chicken shit ticket for rolling a stop sign; and on TV, you see them dressed head to toe in kevlar, holding a shotgun, hiding behind a car while some crazy guy shoots some children.

Cops are bullies

Cops are dumb

Cops are to afraid to go in without back-up.

A fire fighter won't wait for another truck full of fire fighters to show up before he runs into a burning house to rescue your cat. A cop will wait for backup before he tries to rescue your kid.

Fuck this guy. His deserves his "Suspension without pay" (In the real world that's called a vacation)

The twitching would then indicate that the deceased is not exactly the deceased. In all cases it would last until the brain runs out of oxygen and clicks off.

You buddy obviously have never been either because had you been a member of either the armed or emergency services you would know the very first rule of survival:

Never go alone.

Anyone one stupid enough to rush into a burning building or into a standoff situation alone deserves what they get. Now go back home and complain about how the bad mean cop gave you a ticket for being a snot nosed fuck with an attitude or how the firemen wouldn't just help you out and slim jim your car door. The rest of us have snickering to do.

And?

It's not like the cop showed up at the guy's funeral with a PowerPoint presentation or something.

"This part right here? That's when he shit himself, now keep an eye on his left leg.....and he's dead. Any questions?"

If you ask me the news outlets reporting this are the assholes. This cop may have been tactless in sharing this with his friends, but the family had no idea.

They could have gone on and eventually recovered without ever knowing a bunch of drunk fucks in a bar somewhere were chuckling over their dead family member.

No bolide, you are wrong. It's early & I don't really have time to write a huge post now but you can go ahead & ask a coroner-- there is NO such thing as post-mortem twitching in humans. A little twitching before they actually die? Sure, but once that oxygen/blood supply has stopped & they are actually dead there will be NO twitching.

I've worked with dead bodies almost my whole life & I have yet to see this happen.

I don't give a shit about the article.

But looking at that picture of Anderson Cooper all silver-haired and fake-concerned looking makes me want to do seriously depraved things to him.

I can see him tied up and bent over and me making him squirm a by shoving ice up his pooper. How's your pooper Cooper? Yeah? Another chunk?

Do brainally challenged gunshot victims twitch 10 hours after the trauma?...no, of course not.

Do they twitch right after having their brains blown out?...I've blasted enough brains out of things to tell you without question, they sometimes do.

That being said, I see no reason for the persecution of this cop...can't we even speak in America anymore, without fear of persecution?...how many of us here on this board have joked and made snide comments when a story about a cop being killed is posted?

And LOL to the "Elvis Pressly wax museum" joke!

I was doing some work at a firehouse once, the trucks came back in after a call
and the firemen were laughing about some homeless person they had to
scrape off the train tracks. Its just gallows humor, same reason a lot of people come here. They either have to laugh or go nuts after seeing shit like that day after day.

The term brain death is defined as "irreversible unconsciousness with complete loss of brain function," including the brain stem, although the heartbeat may continue. Demonstration of brain death is the accepted criterion for establishing the fact and time of death. Factors in diagnosing brain death include irreversible cessation of brain function as demonstrated by fixed and dilated pupils, lack of eye movement, absence of respiratory reflexes (apnea), and unresponsiveness to painful stimuli. In addition, there should be evidence that the patient has experienced a disease or injury that could cause brain death. A final determination of brain death must involve demonstration of the total lack of electrical activity in the brain by two electroencephalographs (EEGs) taken twelve to twenty-four hours apart. Finally, the physician must rule out the possibilities of hypothermia or drug toxicities, the symptoms of which may mimic brain death. Some central nervous system functions such as spinal reflexes that can result in movement of the limbs or trunk may persist in brain death.

When my friend killed himself, the first cop on the scene took several shots (no pun intended) of him with his cell phone. My dumbass thought that maybe he was collecting "evidence". Now I wonder if my friend is now the punchline to a sick joke. But, damn, though, if you watched the video, you have to admit that the guy who was shot in the head was laying under the sign that said "Take one to the head" IS actually pretty damn funny. I'm not even in an industry that deals with death, but even my guy and I had to crack a few jokes when we found our friend. (Like "Should we poke him with a stick."- Cops heard that. Didn't find it amusing.) It seemed like a natural defense to what we were seeing.
