You can't have a tiny start-up show up with better content and service than a big company, and have it work as well as the big company's shit sandwich du jour. You have to be able cripple the little guys and monopolize network traffic and rent-seek so nobody else can compete. That's the American Way that the USDOJ is backing. What this all boils down to is strangling the little guys to give all of the network bandwidth to the fat cats so the carriers will have an excuse NEVER to invest in upgrading the backbone of the internet. It's just making an artificial supply/demand system where you deliberately limit the capacity and then charge more for it, and fuck everybody who isn't already in the catbird seat, especially internet end users who'll be sucking video through a 14.4K bit pipe unless they go to 'somebigmediaconglomerate.com' to get 99% commercials to 1% content. Sort of like going to a GM site for information. You don't get any. You get a ton of Flash content that takes forever to load for a pretty animated multimedia experience, and you just can't get a table of facts and figures. You won't be able to access 'kbb.com' or 'edmunds.com' or any other service which isn't controlled by the larger corporate structure, because there won't be any bandwidth available to reach it. It's all being consumed to serve that retarded cartoon and video content. Ultimately, this will spawn new technology that can deliver broadband internet content via satellite anywhere in the U.S. just like sitting in a wireless coffee shop - but the fat cats with all of the power will make the FCC shit-can it by denying them the use of any radio frequency spectrum to operate in. They'll naturally do this AFTER all of the expense of launching the satellites and such to make sure the company goes under, then has to sell it off to those who control all the other media, at which point the FCC will reverse its self. That's the nice thing about corporations owning the government instead of the people... at least if you're in charge of the corporation. Heil Haliburton!
