I think it was probably a prank, because the edit wasn't even factually accurate--Benoit couldn't have missed a match because of his wife's death, because he killed himself shortly after he killed her.

The latest item I read on this, said that it was the person who was on a chat room, and stated that he did indeed post the piece. They know it really was him, because they traced his electronic signature. He said that he posted it, based on what he was told by Benoit. There was no clairvoyance involved. Still a pretty sad thing, the way it unfolded. Think of the ratings coup Vince Mc Mahon would have reaped if Benoit would have confessed on National TV.

Benoit over. As another additional comment... used to kinda admire the guy as an underdog. Now I see him as a punk dog, rather.

There is no evidence, other than anecdotal, that "roid rage" even exists. Anyone who would take a dangerous substance to improve his or her appearance is basically an asshole. Asshole rage is fairly common. The roids only make for a stronger raging asshole.

One interesting fact about testosterone is that a pathologically LOW level induces far more violent outbursts and impulse control problems than high levels.

>no evidence, other than anecdotal, that "roid rage" even exists yes, there is. and much of it is clinical. one study alone disproves your contention, and the dosage used in the study is low compared to hardcore "stackers". http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstract/269/21/2760 Neuropsychiatric effects of anabolic steroids in male normal volunteers T. P. Su, M. Pagliaro, P. J. Schmidt, D. Pickar, O. Wolkowitz and D. R. Rubinow Section on Behavioral Endocrinology, National Institute of Mental Health/NIH, Bethesda, MD 20892. OBJECTIVE--To evaluate the acute effects of anabolic steroids on mood and behavior in male normal volunteers. DESIGN--A 2-week, double-blind (subject and rater), fixed-order, placebo-controlled crossover trial of methyltestosterone. SETTING--An inpatient research unit at the National Institutes of Health. SUBJECTS--A volunteer sample of 20 men who were medication free, free of medical and psychiatric illness, not involved in athletic training, and had no prior history of anabolic steroid use. INTERVENTION--A sequential trial for 3 days each of the following four drug conditions: placebo baseline, low-dose methyltestosterone (40 mg/d), high-dose methyltestosterone (240 mg/d), and placebo withdrawal. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES--Mood and behavioral ratings were completed during each drug condition and included both subjective and objective measures. RESULTS--Significant (P < .05) albeit subtle increases in symptom scores were observed during high-dose methyltestosterone administration compared with baseline in positive mood (euphoria, energy, and sexual arousal), negative mood (irritability, mood swings, violent feelings, and hostility), and cognitive impairment (distractibility, forgetfulness, and confusion). An acute manic episode was observed in one of the 20 subjects, representing a 5% incidence, even under these conservative conditions. An additional subject became hypomanic. Baseline characteristics including family psychiatric history or previous drug abuse did not predict symptom changes. CONCLUSION--This is the first placebo-controlled prospective study demonstrating the adverse and activating mood and behavioral effects of anabolic steroids. Here's anothet study I didn't bother to print. Pope, H.G., and Katz, D.L. Affective and psychotic symptoms associated with anabolic steroid use. American Journal of Psychiatry 145(4):487-490, 1988.

I am semi-allergic to Yellow Jackets (not the amphetamine type), but those vicious insects that like to main-line you when you least expect it. I will swell up at the site of the bite. I will pop a few Benedryls till I get to the doc to get the shot or the "six pack" of Cortisol which is a corticosteroid hormone. They give you energy unlike any other substance (legal or otherwise). But the funniest side effect is how it induces hunger. Not the munchies but a true bottom-less pit hunger. I was cooking at the time and went to work and ate at least 2-3 of beef on top of all the other food that I ate.

When I was a kid, I had a friend who had to constantly take steroids to help with severe exema. I don't know if they were the cause, but that fucker was huge. He was very mild mannered however.

Had a cousin who took steroids for an anthropoid lung ( had to use spell check on that one ) Saw him first time in 3 years , first thing he said to me " My nuts are shrinking & I can't get it up " . I had no idea what to say. Well , I had an idea what to say " Your wife is fat and zitty & you look worse " But manners ( AKA my wife ) stopped me. If someone can't get it up , it may want them to blame someone besides themselves . I take viagra , my wife loves it . I would never kill my loved one , even if it didn't work. Benoit was a punk. True story. MTC

What really strikes me about this entire story... is this guys utter disregard for his own son. I mean think about it... Benoit killed his wife... the mother of his son. That entire night the 7 year old may have known this... who knows what the final hours may have been like for the child. I mean I do have a soft spot for kids and animals. I generally cant stand 80 percent of the adult population and many times cant understand why some exist... other then to perhaps get another dui or another get into some sort of trouble so they can continue to burden society with their stupid destructive ways and make everyone else watch them make fools of themselves. In other words many adults are alive to make me and a few others in the minority feel better about ourselves.

Why is wrestling even popular? A bunch of naked, sweaty and meaty guys touching each other? Sounds like repressed homosexuality to me. I never got into either (wrestling or being gay). I played football for 6 years, (2 pop warner and 4 high school) and the was gay enough with the ass slapping and chest slamming and other shit that goes on in the locker room and on the bus.

Ahh, you know. Stupid stuff that seems gay-ish now to me. We had this big guy on our team named Tweed. All the upper classman didn't like him so they were always teasing/torturing him. Seems gay in hindsight (no pun intended but I am a little baked). When my class were seniors and/or captains (not me, I wasn't very good at all), most of that shit knocked off. But as I recall they used to make him march up and down the bus in his underwear and moon (actually do a pressed ham to) any cars that noticed. They once jumped him in the shower and shaved his head. All kinds of stupid shit. One freshmen smoked cigarettes and the smell would set off one of the WR's that has asthma so they shoved a jockstrap in the smoker's face when he came back from smoking a ciggy once. Then there was the usual ass slapping and chest thumping shit that happened alot 'cause we won a lot (division III state champs two years in a row). BTW wrestling is for repressed homos. Just come out of the closet for crissakes its the 21st century. I said naked but obviously they wear the absolute minimun amount of clothing required to be on cable TV. Stupid.

Here is the latest on the posting: "On Sunday morning, maybe only minutes before committing suicide, he sent a string of text messages giving his home address. (One odd twist to the tale: an anonymous Web user made a posting to Benoit's Wikipedia entry that mentioned Nancy's death—14 hours before authorities discovered her. The user, however, later wrote to the Web site that the comment was a "terrible coincidence" and based on idle online gossip. Whatever the case, police said they were looking into it.)" Sounds fishy to me.

This whole tableau of how steroids can mess you up reminds me of dumb anecdote my ma told me once. Back in the day, my father and her were watching TV waiting for some other show to come on and there was a promo for some bodybuilding/muscleman TV show amongst the commercials and ma was ogling the men in the clip when my dad reminded her, "Yeah they may have incredible muscles, but they probably now all have pricks like this long!" (Said as he gestured about 2" with hands).

i don't know. this whole thing just sounds weird to me. i saw vince mcmahon's (<<probably spelled wrong)thing about how WWE is not going to discuss the benoit issue, and the wrestlers are going to do what they do best, and that's "entertain you" thing. it's like WWE doesn't want to even recognize that this guy killed his wife and disabled child. his son apparently had "fragile x syndrome", which can also be accompanied with autism. killing a child is bad enough, but your own child who is disabled is even worse. i find it rather shitty that this guy is being praised for having been a champion wrestler, and not being chastised for committing these murders. to top it all off, he hangs himself with a cable from a piece of "exercise equipment"... wanna make a bet it was a bow-flex? (i'm probably going to be sued now, but that's just my opinion). he kills himself so he doesn't have to face the wrath of the justice system, and the public... that's just awful. this whole story is a little bit off for me. who knows? maybe he didn't do it and it was the wiki-savant who did it by holding his family hostage b/c he's a deranged fan. highly doubtful tho, since dood was a wrestler... c'mon, i'm sure this guy was in the ring with the undertaker or some other similarly large scary wrestler. i'm sure he could take a cyber-nerd. whatever the real story is will come out soon enough. i feel badly for his surviving family members, and his other children that supposedly live in canada. i hope they are able to somewhat cope with their grief and start the healing process.
