One pedestrian walking across the bridge Friday called the situation "a shame."

Sorry, but the homeless bums are a shame, or the fact they live in a shanty pissy smelling camp surrounded by shit piles under a fucking bridge is the shame?

There are still wilderness areas where you can go and live outdoors without anyone noticing, but then you have to be responsible for taking care of yourself, instead of just being a parasite on the society I'm guessing these people reject.
They could at least dig fucking latrines.

Where I live, homelessness is virtually unheard of. Yes, there are people who don't have their own home, either bought or rented, but they have friends or family who they stay with. The only exceptions, would be violent drunks or junkies, that nobody wants to know. Even these sort of people would probably manage to get a council flat, or accommodation via the social services department.

20 people living in shelters of plastic sheets and old cable spools with carpet remnants, piles of feces, strong urine smell, violent with each other especially when drinking...sounds like a Kentucky family vacationing in Cinci to me.

Rape Victim To Sue The City of New York; Seeking $50 million

By Joshua Robin STAFF WRITER

March 5, 2003

A Queens woman raped by a gang of men living in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in December is suing the city and NYC Transit, saying each knew of the homeless group but failed to "take proper action" to make the area safe.

The woman - listed as Jane Doe in a notice of claim, the first step in filing a suit - alleges that for up to 10 years, local activists alerted authorities that the band of illegal immigrants were living in a shanty near subway and Long Island Rail Road tracks.

The city and NYC Transit failed to do anything, the claims says, "a direct proximate cause of Ms. Doe's abduction and subsequent beating and rape."

"This was something that was going to happen," Paul Priore, a Queens activist who says his warnings about the homeless went unheeded and is cited in the claim, said of the attack.

The woman is seeking up to $50 million. Five men were arrested and charged with rape in the attack. A sixth man is still being sought.

Deirdre Parker, a spokeswoman for NYC Transit, referred calls to a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The spokesman, Tom Kelly, declined to comment.

The victim was walking near a LIRR ramp with a friend on Dec. 19 when she was surrounded, then kicked and beaten before being forced into a wooded area where the men had set up a SHANTYTOWN, police said.

There, the men repeatedly raped her and threatened to kill her, police said. Her friend escaped and called police.

Her attorney, Andrew Weitz, said she is suing because "any property owner is responsible under the law to keep their premises safe and secure for anyone who comes on the property."

Weitz said his client is in counseling, but will likely face post-traumatic stress disorder . "She doesn't really want to talk about that night," he said.

-----------------

Weitz.....typical.

What I don't get is; what will her counseling consist of if 'She really doesn't want to talk about that night?

The money they will split?

I don't like this suing bullshit as a rule (lawyers are fucking parasites).....but if it get people aware of the scourge of illegal immigration, I hope the negligent bastards get ass-hammered.

Good Post. Kudos for 'ferreting' it out.

I in no way condone this, but~~~

If the homeless are going to shit and piss somewhere;
use the Ohio River as a latrine, instead of the path.

Let's handle this the George Bush way.

He quit calling illegal aliens, "illegal aliens" he just changed their name to "Guest Workers".

So instead of calling them 'homeless people' let's just change their name to "OUTDOORSMEN"

If they're doing drugs let's not call them 'drug addicts' lets change their name to "Pharmaceutical Recreationalist".

If men are out screwing horses let's just call them "Petting Zoo Extremist"

There. Problem solved.

The only shame I see is that no one is willing to pay for bullets to be fired in their skulls let alone for a proper homeless shelter.

Oh, I get it. If it's other people's problem too, why should you have to pay for it? right?

It's an ethical dilemma. Whether to refuse help to a human being who clearly needs it, when the short-term need is a consequence of long-term behaviour that you don't want to reward.
Personally, I take the long-term view. Why are these people living on the bridge? Because they can get food while there. Tag them, track them, stop feeding them until they move where you want.

Yeah, it's a sign of the times. Trolls living under bridges and along rivers. Most of them are unemployed engineers and computer software developers. Too bad they oculdn't find a home in the US military, like the other hopelessly unemployable.

I could never live in piss or shit. Can't stand the stench. (My own beer farts wake me up and I flee.) Neither obviously can other productive (i.e., working) members of society stand off odors. Perhaps this means that hominid evolution has favored those with a keen sense of smell. The odor of shit, piss, decomposition = DANGER, WILL ROBINSON, KILLER MICROBES PRESENT. So why are we prospering these sub-hominids with defective olfactory systems with shelters and free medical care? PLEASE ADVISE.

A few months ago my family went to visit washington dc. About an hour train ride from my house. As we were walking down one sidewalk, I started to smell something awful and as we went around the corner there were about 8 homeless men and women sleeping on the ground (At about 3pm). I couldnt believe somebody could stink that bad. And about 3-4 hrs later as we were walking back to the train terminal, We seen the same people begging for money. Lazy fuckers. Sleep till 3-4p, beg for cash to buy booze. Fuck em.

Such a sin we can't put homeless people in the military. They get food, clothes, guns, and clothes that way. Plus if a one or two get killed just go get another. Then again just shoot the dumbasses.
