Revenant Late To Own Funeral
Independent IE | Submitted by: Vomit
"A Brazilian bricklayer reportedly killed in a car crash shocked his mourning family by showing up alive at his funeral... "The corpse was badly disfigured, but dressed in similar clothing," said the police spokesman, who talked on condition of anonymity. "People are afraid to look for very long when they identify bodies, and I think that is what happened in this case."

This worked out well for him. I'm guessing that the wife won't give him shit for staying out all night getting drunk now.

Since he's not dead, do they get a refund on the casket and all that? Does the other guys family have to pay them back? How does that work?

At least he wasn't late for his own funeral.

I would have sat in the back and listened to the eulogy and small talk. Find out who really loved me and find out who to write out of my will.

Another version of this story said that after the guy showed up at his own funeral and everyone knew he was alive. The funeral was continued(even though no one knew who was in the casket).

Brazilians! Anything for a party!

I would love to show up at my funeral in disguise, just to hear what everyone has to say about me after they believe that I'm gone.

You know the wife or one of the kids went and bought something really expensive once they knew there was an inheritance coming. Poor guy will probably die within a year, right before the "one year interest free" date is up.

Doesn't Brazil have dead bodies everywhere? It's a simple mistake.

I've heard of stories about people showing up to their own funerals in other parts of the world, yet to have it happen here though.

However, we have had people look at their loved one & refuse to believe it's them, even after proper identification, but that's grief.

Don't Brazil know about dental records and DNA?

It would have been fun to sneak in hide behind the casket and then halfway through the funeral, jump up from behind the casket in a white sheet and say "boo". Ha Ha , can you imagine the look on the congregation's faces.
