Grandpa Drives To Church
WISH-TV 8 Indianapolis | Submitted by: gargoyle1
"A Kokomo family grieves for a four-year-old girl after her grandfather accidentally ran over her. The tragic incident happened Sunday morning in the parking lot of Centro Cristiano Adonai Church... The four-year-old had apparently traveled to the church with an uncle, but once church services were over she apparently went to her grandfather's minivan and stood at the front bumper."

Meantime, recent federal legislation aims to prevent these accidents by creating rear visibility standards for vehicles, requiring the federal government to collect data on non-traffic accidents like these and provide educational programs about these dangers. ------------------------- Better idea.... Adults should watch out for children when they are around moving vehicles. I can't understand how this happened. If someone had been watching the kids instead of gossiping after church, the kid would be alive and gramps wouldn't be a sobbing mess.

my friend NEVER pays attention to where her 4 year old is, just expects everyone else to. I think this mind set is very common, everybody thinks someone else is watching out and no one is!! the next thing you hear is a thud under the minivan.

When I saw the that the guy's name was jesus and the town was kokomo, I had 3 thoughts in rapid succession. 1: Make a joke about jesus and the church 2: Make a joke and somehow include the lyrics to the beach boy's song followed quickly by #3: This is rotten.com and I bet it's all been done already.

"...most careful driver.." Of course you're right Bella.. and it's unfortunately true. But, my point still remains. I think too many ACCIDENTS are caused by HURRY and HASTE. One example..Just me Maybe JUST Norace, does this.. It's AUTOMATIC with me Maybe.. from 35 of driving.... old habit? or perhaps, cause I;m OLD now,,. But when I back up the car ... or just start forward I start out...VERY (creeping at first) slowly... (just one fucking example) Nobody's perfect, but I still think slowin DOWN shit as a general rule is good advice fer anyone. From SOMEONE who takes care of a lotta folks injured and in a hurry.

Bet the scene after he ran her down was better than the Church sermon Hispanics screaming in Spanish and clustering around the flattened child, some fall on their knees and cry out "Jesus" and the poor old dude turns around and is like "What?" Little kids, like dogs should be on leashes at all times. That way you know exactly where they are.

Police said Jesus Martinez didn't see his four-year-old granddaughter Beatriz Arreola ------------------------------- Jesus will have about a dozen less great grandchildren that would have started showing up in about 10 years

There is a difference between an accident and out an out murder, it's called involuntary manslaughter. It's a very sad thing to happen to a family.

Happened to my in law'sneighbors about 5 yrs ago. Grandpa was out in the field with his tractor cutting grass and his 2yr old grandson wandered outside, and granddad backed over the kid w/ the tractor. Pretty nasty. Not the grandpas fault really, although he blames himself. The tractor is very large, noisy and has blind spots. Whoever was supposed to have been watching the kid inside the home while he was cutting the grass is to blame.

Not Gramps fault. Parents or whoever was watching the kid should be shot. I never once let my kids walk around a parking lot, street, anywhere there were cars. Hell, I still yell at them when they run through a parking lot and my oldest is 4 inches taller than me.

Yep, all little buggers should be kept on leashes: I was. Just goes to show you how dragging your children off to the last place on earth that they'd like to be just doesn't pay.
