eloi & morlocks slightly different theory, remember the weak eloi were more gentle & beautiful while the strong morlocks were ugly & brutal... whereas in this theory, one strain will get all the advantages, the other all the disadvantages. even so this theory has been bandied about for a few years now so not exactly new. incidentally if this is possible for our future, one might ask why not in the past? there has been plenty of inequality before, but it hasn't resulted in one group genetically inferior, one group genetically superior, has it?

Didn't Hitler ascribe to something like this, when he formulated his perfect Aryan vision of mankind? The theory has so many holes in it, that it really isn't worthy of wasting brain cells on it. There will always be that recessive gene, that will pop up generations later.

Christ man... eugenics has ALWAYS been practiced. As far as I know the recent shunning of it is the first time ever in human history. As a matter of fact, it's not technically shunned, only applied in different ways, while the previous method is shunned. [ Integration IS eugenics, plain and simple.  Too many variables. For starters, Genetic Engineering... Sooner or later, I'd say 50 years, it'll become possible to have "Retroviral therapy". Have a shot, change your genes like you change your jeans. Blonde hair, blue eyes, a Nazi scientist's dream without horrible surgery. I'm sure a lot of them would have loved to be able to give an injection to an "Undermensch" and after a few painful weeks of molting have a blonde Aryan superman emerge! Except that people won't necessarily become Aryan ideals.  And more importantly, once genetic tinkering can create 'ideal' or even 'exxagerated' beauty, true beauty will become subjective. Even what once was considered 'ugly' or 'grotesque' might in its own way become attractive. I'd think over 100K years we'd have a combination of man/machine as free roving nanomachines. Or things just like what we now call Grey ET's. That, btw, is my idea for the real explanation behind the greys; They are from the future, taking 'old genetic records' to rescue diversity or help cure some disease.

I think the class division(s) already exists, and has been in place for a long time (millenia?) but technology is becoming available that allows those with the funds to have influence on the genetic material that they pass on. I think there was an example recently of a woman selecting eggs which lacked the breast cancer gene that ran in her family. Prenatal screening and subsequent selective abortion is commonplace in modern cytogenetics labs associated with children's hospitals for certain disorders. I think eugenics has become to strong a word, because it's associated process thats guided by direct human influence and with an idea of what is good. Some form of selection pressure may cause those who are able to to improve the 'fitness' of their offspring and as such cause this creation of a fitter upper class. I think it's something that will happen quietly and slowly, and particularly in the west and more affluent societies. Should be cool. IMO I think the retroviral thing for changing the genetic makeup (mentioned earlier) is a lot mroe than 50 years off. I think the next big thing will be a rapid increase in lifespan of the wealthy due to the availability of engineered tissue replacements, particularly cardiovascular and visceral replacements. Most people don't tend to die of old age as such, they die because their hearts and other organs fail and homeostasis is no longer maintainable. Of course cancer would still be a problem for any cell based life-form. This would become less of an issue as our systems become simulated and replaced by non-organic components. The we'll have meat based underclass and a post human over class. I've digressed somewhat....

First, our species is already divided in two. Male/female. And in males we value strength, rugged features, body hair, big hands,.... the opposite of what we value in females. There's a problem with that theory; smart people tend to have fewer children. Their evolutionary trend is therefore to wipe themselves out by a series of decisions that were beneficial to the individuals making them. It's like outsourcing. For every US company that did it, outsourcing was the way to more profit. But it left the country as a whole, worse off.

Frankly I think the people who want to imagine this as a future for the human race, are the ones who are showing they are lesser. I mean, really they need to be able to see who is good and who is bad? Isn't that like how in childrens' cartoons the hero and villian are extremely stereotyped and clear, because children aren't yet able to understand that you can't tell how someone behaves by how they look. It's a bullying kind of mentality that leads to this concept of there being an upper class and lower class. There are people out there who have a pathological need to have someone they can see as lesser than them. That's why Hitler went for this kind of thinking. I have no idea what the writer of this article is thinking. However, the fact that he shared his "theory" with a popular channel like Bravo, vs a reputable channel like the Science Channel, really says a lot. Basically, that nobody is taking his shit seriously. Except maybe those folks in the Aryan nation or whatever.
