Wow, and I thought my siblings were cruel... What really got me was the link to an editorial at the bottom of the page where the author argues against logic of the slogan "Guns don't kill people, people do" by citing a bunch of cases where people's stupidity or irresponsibility directly contributed to gun deaths. I suppose if only this kids parents had had the good sense not to keep around a chef's knife, a cleaver, two baseball bats, and a hunting knife, then THIS could have been prevented too right?

I know it's not going along with my normal comments, like the "brought a 12 year-old to a 17-year old fight" type, nor is it really relevant in general, but this is the only story today that mentioned blood, so... I know most of us approve of innocent lives being saved/not taken. Although in this example above it wouldn't have helped, giving blood can and does save lives. The Red Cross called me about my donation (you can give every 56 days) and also informed me that they're currently running low on blood and asked me to ask my friends to also give. Seeing as I don't have any actual friends, I'm asking all of you. It's easy and they give you food and stuff after they suck 10% of your lifeforce out. Excuse me for being sincere.

Not sure what the specific reason was for wanting him dead but based on what he told my son and their friends he was threatened with death quite frequently. They also attempted to kill the step-father but were unsuccessful. I'm guessing Mom woulda been last.

Technically, it's not really a crime to PLAN a crime, but going ahead and getting even one requirement needed to carry out the plan makes it a crime. Example: I can go ahead and have bank floor plans, security system info, all that good stuff for one specific bank, all in my home. I can have a big poster on my wall laying out my plan to rob the bank. Until I actually go and pick out a new ski mask or gun, I've not officially committed a crime. I was surprised to find that this crime took place up north! Usually we see these things in the mid west and the deep south of the U.S. That's where the dumbest people ... 'live'.
