That's got to leave a stain: "A 95-year-old grandmother has been strangled with a TV antenna wire apparently by her own son, who is in a serious condition after an attempt to take his own life through hara-kiri failed, police said."

Indeed Mainichi is a constant source of delight to those of a pubic bent. Stories of knicker snatching, kiddy fiddling, suicide and general Japanese insanity abound. May I recommend too The Sowetan newspaper from South Africa. A place of homicidal intensity where the journalists ( and population in general to judge from the reports) , apparently, have a mental age of about 3.

Police said the old woman lived with her son, his 66-year-old wife, Yoshiko, and the couple's son, 36-year-old Takahiro. All four were in the family home in Shibayama when the incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. --------------------------- This begs the question what were his wife and son doing while he was killing his mama? Were they trying to tune the TV after he snatched out the antenna wire? Were they watching the murder/attempted suicide? And upon seeing he was failing in his suicide, why didn't they help him out? The Japanese are a complex people.......weird, creepy, demure, bizarre, well-mannered, and totally off their collective rocker.
