Disney's version of "Beauty and the Beast" is the most hatefully sexist thing I have ever seen on stage. It's basic message is that no one who is male has any inherent right to live. They can only be granted that right by becoming the docile servant to a female. The only character who rejects that does, in fact, die in the story. Remember the original tale of "Beauty and the Beast"? It was a parable about a girl learning to look beneath the surface of an individual and seeing the value of their character and heart. The new one is a total perversion of that, in which the girl controls everything and knows everything. It is entirely consistent with Disney's current policies of promoting sexism as its company philosophy. Obviously it really sells, in a society that has embraced that kind of sexist bigotry as its standard mind set.

Wow... does this remind anyone of the last scene in The Prisoner, or possibly an evil matryoshka doll? He takes off the monster mask and looks like a normal guy, but under the normal disguise he's a worse monster than anything in Disney movies. I should point out that he's not a worse monster than ever showed up in fairytales, though. Who here's read the original Little Red Riding Hood? Fairy tales were made to warn kids about people like this, but Disney and similar neutered versions deprive them of that power.

"Beast"? Guess he was just too into his character. Nieblung, what country do YOU live in? Sexism against females is alive and well in America. I just watched "Beauty and the Beast" last week....where did you get all that piffle? It seemed to me like it was overtly sexist against females, not males. However, I do agree that the original tale was much better and should have been more faithfully followed.

I think we've done the right thing and suspended him without pay. Hmmm.. how about fire him. Put the fear of God into all of the other Disney workers. I don't know. I think just "suspending" him is not the right coarse of action.

More recently, Disney employee Michael Fedelem, who also played Tigger, was suspended after a family claimed he hit their teenage son. Fedelmen said he was reacting to the teen yanking on his costume. .....MY HERO !
